Ashley Penman, LISW-S
Ashley Penman is a licensed independent social worker and supervisor (LISW-S) in the state of Ohio. She obtained a bachelor’s degree from Ohio University and master’s in social work from University of Pennsylvania. With more than 15 years treating children, adolescents, families, and adults, Ashley has worked in various settings including outpatient, school-based, crisis, and integrated primary care. She specializes in the treatment of: mood disorders- anxiety, depression, OCD, bipolar; trauma; grief and loss; behavior problems including ODD and intermittent explosive disorder; and relationship problems. Ashley also facilitated a parenting program to help parents manage complex behavior and emotional problems, has spoken for school teachers and staff about anxiety and school avoidance, and runs a group for teens managing depression and anxiety.
Ashley joined BHSOGC to work collaboratively with individuals, families, and systems to process life events, manage mental health struggles, and move toward change and personal growth. The therapeutic relationship can provide apowerful opportunity to learn about oneself more fully and move toward acceptance and change. Ashley focuses on each individual’s strengths and uniqueness to tailor treatment and work toward each person’s goals.
Ashley became a registered yoga teacher in 2016 (RYT- 200) and incorporates mindfulness skills and breath work into therapy.
